Court summons CM Revanth Reddy in note for vote case

September 25, 2024

Hyderabad. A Hyderabad court on Tuesday directed Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to appear before the court on October 16 in the 2015 cash for vote case. He is one of the accused in this case. The Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s court directed Reddy and five other accused to appear during the hearing on October 16 for consideration of charges in the case in connection with the Enforcement Directorate’s money laundering investigation into the alleged cash for vote scam.

The fourth accused in the case appeared in the court on Tuesday, while other accused, including Chief Minister Reddy, were absent. The court said, “Be summoned for trial on 16.10.2024. All the accused are directed to remain present on the next date of hearing for consideration of the charges.”

On May 31, 2015, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) had arrested Revanth Reddy for allegedly giving a bribe of Rs 50 lakh to nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson to support TDP candidate V. Narendra Reddy in the Legislative Council elections. Revanth Reddy was then in the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). Apart from Revanth Reddy, the ACB had also arrested a few others. All of them were later granted bail.

The ACB had then claimed that it had collected “strong evidence” against the accused in the form of audio and video recordings and recovered an advance amount of Rs 50 lakh. The Enforcement Directorate filed a chargesheet against Revanth Reddy and others in connection with a money laundering probe into the alleged cash-for-vote case in May 2021.

Let us tell you that on Tuesday, the Karnataka High Court dismissed the petition of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in which he had challenged the sanction given by the Governor for investigation against him in the land allotment case. The Chief Minister had challenged the sanction given by Governor Thawarchand Gehlot for investigation against him in connection with alleged irregularities in the allotment of 14 plots in a posh area by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) to his wife.
