Country’s first Geo Science Museum started in Gwalior, Vice President inaugurated it

Gwalior: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar inaugurated Asia’s and the country’s first Geo Science Museum located in Maharajbada area of ​​Gwalior on Sunday. Many people including Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar attended the inauguration program. This museum will provide unique information about the origin and development of the Earth and mankind. Dinosaur egg can also be seen in this museum.

In fact, the Geo Science Museum has been built in the heritage building Victoria Market at Maharajbada, the historical heart of Gwalior. Vice President Dhankhar inaugurated Asia’s and the country’s first state-of-the-art Geo Science Museum by unveiling the plaque and cutting the ribbon at the entrance of the museum. He also congratulated and wished the people of Gwalior for this unique gift. Along with all the guests, he saw the pictures, artifacts and information related to geology displayed in various galleries of the museum and appreciated the museum.

Two galleries of the museum have been designed to increase awareness about earth, atmospheric and ocean science as well as the evolution of life. Apart from this, the museum will attract people interested in science with state-of-the-art exhibitions, interactive installations, rare geological samples and multimedia displays. The museum has been jointly prepared by Gwalior Municipal Corporation and National Council of Science Museums (NCSM).

The history of the building in Gwalior in which the country’s first geoscience museum has been built is also very special. This building is more than 100 years old. Historians say that during the Scindia rule, Victoria Market was built in 1910 in honor of the then Queen Victoria of Britain.

This building is a historical heritage of the city. However, before 2010, a market used to be set up in this building. In which there used to be stationery and fruit market. In 2010, after 100 years, there was a major fire incident in the building in which a part of the building collapsed. Since then the market was closed here. Later, the Municipal Corporation took over the building and started building a museum here.
