Congress not ready to take a soft stand towards Shashi Tharoor, MP asked Rahul Gandhi a question

New Delhi. Congress has shown no flexibility in its stand towards its own party MP Shashi Tharoor (Member of Parliament). Despite the conversation with Tharoor, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi did not respond to any of his grievances or suggestions. According to sources, Congress is no longer ready to take a soft stand towards Tharoor. Let us tell you that Shashi Tharoor had urged Rahul Gandhi to clarify his role in the party.

During a meeting held a few days ago in Delhi, Tharoor expressed deep displeasure over being ignored in the party. According to sources, Rahul Gandhi did not make any concrete commitment on this, which made Tharoor even more dissatisfied.

Congress is angry with Tharoor because he gave his opinion on many matters deviating from the party’s policy. He had praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s US visit and his meeting with US President Donald Trump. Apart from this, his article praising the industrial development done by the LDF government in Kerala had caused discontent in the party.

It has also come to light that Tharoor has made up his mind to deviate from the party line, because he believes that he is not getting proper respect. During the meeting with Rahul Gandhi, Tharoor also expressed dissatisfaction over the fact that he was removed from the post of in-charge of “All India Professional Congress”, which he himself had formed.

Shashi Tharoor also protested that he was being neglected during major debates in Parliament, he was not being given opportunities. Tharoor told Rahul Gandhi that he was capable of handling the leadership of the party in Parliament, but remained silent because Rahul Gandhi was appointed the Parliament Party Leader.

Shashi Tharoor also asked Rahul Gandhi whether the party wants him to focus on state politics, but Rahul did not give any clear answer to this. Tharoor wanted to know what his role would be if Congress has such an intention. On this Rahul clarified that it is not the tradition of Congress to select the Chief Ministerial candidate before the elections.

Tharoor is dissatisfied that no concrete assurance was given by Rahul in the talks. Although Tharoor had hinted at taking charge of the youth wing of Congress, Rahul was not ready to accept this proposal.
