China is not stopping its antics, military drill near LAC, what is the intention of the dragon

January 13, 2025

New Delhi: On one hand, the country is immersed in the preparations for Army Day. On the other hand, China has started combat drills near the Line of Actual Control. This exercise was conducted under the leadership of the regiment of the Xinjiang Military Command of the People’s Liberation Army of China.

In this combat drill of China, advanced technology of the army including all-terrain vehicles, unmanned systems and drones were used. This step is being taken by China at a time when India and China are working towards maintaining peace.

An agreement was signed between India and China on 21 October 2024 to withdraw their troops from the Line of Actual Control and start patrolling again. This agreement was a big step taken towards reducing the tension between the two countries after the clash in the Galwan Valley in 2020. Under this agreement, both the countries had agreed to restore patrolling in sensitive areas like Depsang and Demchok.

This agreement was reached after a high-level meeting between India’s NSA Ajit Doval and China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Despite this agreement, uncertainty remains between the two sides. Both countries have deployed a large number of troops even in difficult conditions.

This drill of China is not just a part of training. China is doing this strategically. It is rapidly mobilizing troops in disputed areas. For example, the use of exoskeletons is giving Chinese soldiers an advantage in high altitude areas and they are able to conduct military exercises easily.

In such a situation, India needs to remain alert and advance military modernization efforts in Ladakh. The Indian Army is also conducting winter maneuvers, upgrading infrastructure and strengthening its surveillance system to counter any possible attack from China.

Let us tell you that the resumption of patrolling in areas like Depsang and Demchok indicates a thaw in relations between the two countries, but the continuous military exercises being conducted by China show that the road to permanent peace is still long and full of challenges.
