Chandigarh. Buses will stop running in Punjab from Monday. Punjab Roadways, PRTC and PUNBUS employees have threatened to go on strike. While addressing a press conference in Moga on Saturday, Punjab Roadways Punbus/PRTC Contract Worker Union state president Resham Singh Gill said that Punjab Roadways, PRTC and PUNBUS will remain on strike on 6,7 and 8 January.
A protest will be held outside the Chandigarh Chief Minister’s residence at 10 am on January 7. He said that the employees of Roadways, PUNBUS and PRTC have been struggling for their demands for a long time. The government has not yet fulfilled the demands of the employees.
On July 1, 2024, a meeting of Punjab Roadways, PRTC, PUNBUS employees was held with the concerned officials of the Punjab Government, in which our main demand was to make the temporary employees permanent. End the contract system, stop new buses and kilometer scheme buses in the department, ban transport mafia, reinstate the dismissed employees with conditions and along with the demand to run the department properly and increase the salary.
Farmer organizations will also be involved in the strike
After the meeting, the officials of the government and the department ignored our demand. Due to this, there will be a wheel jam of Punjab Roadways, PRTC, PUNBUS on 6, 7 and 8 January across Punjab. A protest will be held outside the Chief Minister’s residence in Chandigarh at 10 am on January 7. Some farmer organizations will also participate in this demonstration.
People’s trouble will increase
Due to the strike of roadways employees for three days in Punjab, the common people are going to face a lot of trouble. Because due to non-operation of buses, passengers will have to take the help of private buses or taxis. This will waste both time and money of the people. Before this, roadways employees had never gone on strike for three days. In such a situation, if this strike continues for three days, then the department will also suffer a lot of financial loss.
