Central government changed VIP security rules, now this unit will replace NSG commandos

October 16, 2024

New Delhi: The central government has decided to completely remove the commandos of the anti-terrorism force National Security Guard (NSG) from VIP security duty. Now, instead of NSG, the Special Cell of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will take over the responsibility of VIP security. According to the information received, this process will be completed by next month. Let us tell you that the list of those who get the security of NSG’s Black Cat Commandos includes many big leaders of the country including Rajnath Singh, Yogi Adityanath.

According to media reports, it may take a month to complete this entire process. Earlier, six battalions of CRPF were handling the responsibility of VIP security. You should know that due to the security lapse in Parliament House a few months ago, the responsibility of the security of Parliament was handed over from CRPF to CISF. Now the Home Ministry has included the same unit of CRPF as the seventh battalion.

The nine VIPs who are protected by NSG commandos include UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, BSP chief Mayawati, former Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Now the security of all these VIPs will be handed over to CRPF.

Rajnath Singh and Yogi Adityanath have NSG’s special Advanced Security Liaison (ASL) protocol. Now CRPF will take over this facility as well. Let us tell you that the job of ASL is to do security check of the place before the arrival of VIP and follow all kinds of security protocols. Now this responsibility will be carried out by CRPF, which has previously been providing security to Home Minister Amit Shah, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and three members of the Gandhi family under ASL.

In fact, preparations for this decision were being made for many years. Due to the increasing threat of terrorist attacks in the country, the need to coordinate between VIP security and national security was felt. The government believes that the NSG will now be fully deployed in anti-terrorism missions, while the special security units of the CRPF will be entrusted with the responsibility of VIP security.
