New Delhi. Leading Muslim organization Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind on Friday said that it will boycott all the programs of Nitish Kumar’s JD(U), Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP and Chirag Paswan-led LJP (Ram Vilas) over the stand of NDA constituents on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill. Jamiat alleged that they are doing politics against Muslims.
Muslims are being oppressed: Madani
Madani said, “The current situation in the country and the cruel and unjust treatment meted out to minorities, especially Muslims, are no longer hidden from anyone. But it is indeed very regrettable that those who call themselves secular and claim to be well-wishers of Muslims, whose political success has also been influenced by the support of Muslims – are now doing such politics which is not only against Muslims, but also against all the justice-loving people of the country,”
Madani said that leaders like Nitish Kumar, Chandrababu Naidu and Chirag Paswan, in their desire for power, are not only supporting communal forces against Muslims, but are also supporting the destruction of the Constitution and laws of the country and pushing the country towards destruction.
Madani made this appeal to Muslims
He asked, “What is the compulsion? Do they not see the danger facing the country? And like the communal forces, do they also not see any importance in the constitution and secularism? Their reprehensible attitude towards the Wakf (Amendment) Bill has removed the mask from their so-called secular face. They have no concern for the constitution or secularism of the country. They have no sympathy for Muslims; they want their votes, which helps them gain power and after coming to power, they exclude Muslims from their priorities. So the time has come that we should express our displeasure by not participating in their programs as a symbolic protest.”
He also appealed to other religious organizations, institutions and individuals not to participate in their programs, even if it is just an ‘Iftar’ party.
His remarks came after the Joint Committee of Parliament submitted its report on the Wakf (Amendment) Bill. The proposed bill can be passed in Parliament during the current budget session. The 31-member panel on the bill suggested several amendments to the proposed law after several meetings and hearings, while opposition members disagreed with the report and submitted dissent notes.
The 655-page report was submitted to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on January 30. The joint committee accepted the report with changes suggested by members of the ruling BJP by a 15-11 majority. The move prompted the opposition to term the exercise as an attempt to destroy the Waqf boards.
