BJP leader Savita Vajpayee dies, has been a minister of MP thrice

Bhopal: Famous socialist leader and former minister of Madhya Pradesh Savita Vajpayee died in a hospital here on Thursday after a long illness. Family sources gave this information.

Savita Vajpayee, wife of senior journalist Balmukund Bharti, was 87 years old. Vajpayee came into the limelight in 1977 after winning the assembly elections from Sehore seat of Madhya Pradesh during the rule of Janata Party. She had been a minister in the state thrice.

Let us tell you that Savita Vajpayee held the post of Minister of State and Minister respectively in the cabinet of all the three Chief Ministers Kailash Joshi, Virendra Saklecha, and Sundarlal Patwa during the Janata Party rule.

Sources said that during the Emergency, she was also in jail for 18 months as a prisoner under MISA (Internal Security Act). Her last rites were performed at Bhadbhada crematorium in Bhopal. Her family includes her husband and two daughters. The elder daughter Dr. Shraddha Agarwal and the younger Nishtha Dubey are famous gynecologists of Bhopal.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has expressed grief over the demise of former minister Savita Vajpayee. The Chief Minister said that Vajpayee made a significant contribution in public life. CM Yadav has prayed to God for the peace of Vajpayee’s soul and to give strength to the family to bear this grief.
