Patna. A big and shocking news has come out from Patna, the capital of Bihar. Recently, JP Ganga bridge built at a cost of Rs 3831 crore has developed cracks just three days after its inauguration. This crack has been seen in pillar number A-3 near Didarganj, which is now seen spreading to both lanes of the Ganga path.
Actually, on April 9, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated this Ganga path built from Kangan Ghat to Didarganj in Patna. On this occasion, both Deputy Chief Ministers of Bihar Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, Road Construction Minister Nitin Naveen, Assembly Speaker Nandkishore Yadav and many senior officials and public representatives were present on the stage.
This inauguration program was organized amidst great pomp and security, but the appearance of cracks on the road of the bridge a few days after this raises questions not only on the functioning of the government but also on the functioning of the construction agencies.
Was the work incomplete due to election haste?
In the opinion of experts and the general public, these cracks are an indication that somewhere the quality of construction has been compromised. In such a situation, questions are also being raised whether the government inaugurated this bridge in a hurry in view of the upcoming assembly elections, due to which cracks appeared in it. The arrival of the Chief Minister in the inauguration program amidst strong storm and rain and the appearance of cracks on the same bridge shows that technical tests and safety checks were not done thoroughly before the inauguration.
Falling credibility of bridges in Bihar
Let us tell you that this is not the first incident when a controversy has arisen over a major bridge or road project in Bihar. Even before this, there have been reports of collapse of under-construction bridges, sinking of roads and premature breakage. This raises questions on the accountability and monitoring system of the government machinery.
