New Delhi. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which is busy campaigning for Haryana assembly elections, has suffered a major setback. The party’s candidate from Faridabad, Pravesh Mehta, joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday. He joined BJP in the presence of Union Minister and Faridabad MP Krishna Pal Gurjar and Haryana BJP senior leader Vipul Goyal.
In fact, after not having an alliance with Congress, Aam Aadmi Party has fielded its candidates on all seats in Haryana and the party had given ticket to Pravesh Mehta from Faridabad seat. BJP candidate from Faridabad Vipul Goyal said that Mehta’s joining BJP will strengthen the saffron organization in Faridabad.
Goyal posted on Instagram and wrote, ‘Today, during a huge public meeting held at Purani Anaj Mandi, Old Faridabad, in the presence of Union Minister Krishan Pal Gurjar, Aam Aadmi Party candidate from Faridabad Assembly Pravesh Mehta ji took membership of the Bharatiya Janata Party along with thousands of his supporters. I heartily welcome and congratulate Mehta ji in the BJP family… It is clear from the love, trust and enthusiasm of the people towards the BJP that a historic victory will be announced from Faridabad and the Bharatiya Janata Party will form the government for the third time in the state.’
Who is Pravesh Mehta? Pravesh Mehta has a background in the BJP and after being in the BJP for about two decades, when he did not get a ticket in 2014, he left the party. After this, he joined INLD and also contested elections but could not win. Mehta, a businessman by profession, was in the Aam Aadmi Party for the last three years.
