Bangladeshi citizen became the head of Panchayat, Lovely Khatun gets Mamata’s protection; BJP got angry

Kolkata. In West Bengal, the Bharatiya Janata Party has made serious allegations against the ruling Trinamool Congress. The BJP says that Mamata Banerjee’s TMC is sheltering Bangladeshi infiltrators and providing them Indian documents. This allegation gained strength when a case of Malda district has come to light. A Panchayat chief of Trinamool Congress has been accused of being Bangladeshi. Lovely Khatun, the head of Rasidabad Gram Panchayat of Harishchandrapur in Malda district, is said to be a Bangladeshi citizen.

A petition has been filed in the court in this matter. It has been alleged that Lovely’s real name is Nazia Sheikh and she is a citizen of Bangladesh. It is being said that Lovely entered India after Trinamool came to power. In 2015, her name was put in the voter list and in 2018 she changed her identity through a fake birth certificate. After this, she tried to prove herself an Indian citizen by claiming Sheikh Mustafa of the local Baghmara area as her father.

The people of Baghmara are claiming that they recognize all the children of Sheikh Mustafa, but Lovely Khatun has no relation with their family. Apart from this, those persons who appeared as witnesses in favor of Lovely have also submitted affidavits. They say that their signatures have been copied and efforts are being made to implicate them.

Local BJP leaders are alleging that Bangladeshi infiltrators are being sheltered by Trinamool leaders and they are being helped in getting Indian documents made. They also say that these infiltrators have bought a large amount of land in Malda district by taking money from abroad. This is changing the population structure of the area and these infiltrators are proving to be dangerous for the local people.

No report has been submitted to the High Court in this matter so far. The name of accused Lovely Khatun is also not in the National Population Register (NPR). This claim has also been made by the petitioner. Although the Trinamool Congress has denied these allegations, the BJP has raised questions about the government’s silence in this matter.
