Bahraich. Stonewalling, firing and arson took place during the Durga idol immersion procession in Maharajganj area of Bahraich, a district of UP on Sunday. Two people were seriously injured in this incident, one of whom died during treatment in the hospital. After this incident, police force has been deployed in the entire area. After the strictness of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in this matter, the in-charge of Hardi police station and the outpost in-charge who were negligent have been suspended.
This case is of Rehua Mansoor village of Hardi police station area. Here on Sunday evening, the idol of Maa Durga was taken out for immersion. When the procession reached Maharajganj market and people were going in front of Abdul Hameed’s house chanting Jaikara. During this, unknown people started pelting stones at the idols. Not only this, the miscreants also opened fire in the midst of stone pelting. Among them, Ram Gopal Mishra (22) son of Kailash Nath, a resident of Rehua Mansoor village, was shot, while another person was also injured.
Immersion resumed after tight security
The two youths injured in this incident were taken to the district hospital, but one died during treatment at Medical College Bahraich. When this information reached Maharajganj market, people going for immersion vandalized vehicles and houses and set them on fire. It is reported that four houses were burnt in this. After violence and arson, immersion of idols was banned, but when police force was deployed in the area, immersion was started again.
CM Yogi took cognizance of the incident
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has immediately taken cognizance of this incident. He immediately tweeted that those who spoil the atmosphere in Mahsi of Bahraich will not be spared. Security is guaranteed to everyone, but instructions have been given to identify the miscreants and those whose negligence has led to the incident and take strict action against them. Immersion of idols will continue. Administration and police officials have been instructed to be present on the spot and communicate with religious organizations to ensure timely immersion of idols.
Action against careless officials after CM Yogi’s instructions
The Chief Minister also said that those whose negligence led to such an incident should be identified and action should be taken against them. After CM Yogi’s instructions, Bahraich SP Vrinda Shukla showed strictness and Hardi police station SO Suresh Verma and Mahsi outpost in-charge Shivkumar were suspended for negligence.
