Mumbai: Mumbai Police on Sunday confirmed that the murder of NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddiqui was a contract killing. Meanwhile, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has taken responsibility for the murder, although the police are investigating the possible involvement of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The arrested accused have also reportedly claimed that they are associated with the Lawrence group.
Police officials said that their teams are tracking down the mastermind behind the murder. Meanwhile, 15 teams of Mumbai Crime Branch have been sent to four states. The police now face the challenge of reaching handler Chak. The strings of this case are connecting to Maharashtra, UP, Delhi, Gujarat and Haryana.
The accused have been identified as Gurmail Baljit Singh (23 years) from Haryana, Dharamraj Kashyap (19 years) from UP and Shiv Kumar from UP who is still out of police reach. Meanwhile, 15 teams of Mumbai Crime Branch have been sent to different states.
Investigation has also revealed that the murder was planned in advance and the money was delivered to the accused in advance. Each shooter was given Rs 50,000 for expenses. The handler has not been identified yet. The three accused were living in a rented house in Kurla for 25 to 30 days. Weapons were delivered to the accused a few days ago.
Accused Shiv Kumar works for a scrap dealer
Police sources claim about the third accused Shiv Kumar that he was working for a scrap dealer in Pune for 5-6 years. Shiva had also called Dharamraj to Pune for work a few months ago. The person who gave the contract killer arranged a meeting between Gurmail and Shiva and Dharmaraj. Gurmail also has a murder case registered against him. No criminal record of the other two accused has been found so far, the police is trying to find out.
