New Delhi: The Supreme Court is hearing the Laddu controversy that surfaced in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh today. While hearing the matter, the Supreme Court said that at least keep God away from politics. Subramanian Swamy’s lawyer told the bench of Justice Bhushan R Gavai and Justice KV Vishwanathan that construction material was going to the kitchen without inspection. The investigation revealed it. The system should be responsible for its supervision because it is the prasad of the deity. It is extremely sacred for the public and devotees.
The petitions filed in the court have demanded a court-monitored investigation into the allegations made by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. He claims that animal fat and fish oil were used in making laddus in the Tirupati temple. Meanwhile, a state government society is in Tirupati to check the quality of prasadam and ghee used in the laddus.
Senior advocate Siddharth appeared for the Tirupati temple board and senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi appeared for the state of Andhra Pradesh. Justice BR Gavai, while responding to a question by senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi appearing for the Andhra Pradesh government, said, “When you are in a constitutional position, it is expected that the deities will be kept away from politics.”
The court also asked Rohatgi, “You ordered for SIT, what is the need to go to the press till the result comes out? You have always been appearing in such cases, this is the second time.” Rohatgi, appearing for the Chandrababu Naidu government, argued that these are ‘not genuine petitions. An attempt has been made by the previous government to attack the current government.
