New Delhi: The Election Commission has announced the dates for the assembly elections to be held in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that the seats in Jammu and Kashmir have been increased to 90, voting will be held here in three phases on 18 September, 25 September and 1 October. At the same time, voting will be held on 1 October 2024 in one phase on 90 seats of Haryana. The result of the elections of both the states will be released on 4 October.

According to the Election Commission, Jammu will now have 43 seats and Kashmir will have 47 seats, while Ladakh does not have an assembly. In the Jammu region, one seat each has been increased in Samba, Kathua, Rajouri, Kishtwar, Doda and Udhampur. One seat has been increased in Kupwara of Kashmir region. According to the Election Commission, Jammu and Kashmir currently has 87.09 lakh voters, out of which more than 20 lakh are youth. The voter list will be released in Jammu and Kashmir on 20 August 2024.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that there are more than two crore voters in Haryana and 73 out of the total 90 seats in the state are general.
