New Delhi: Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri is currently on a visit to Dubai. He met Afghanistan Foreign Minister Maulvi Aamir Khan Muttaqi in Dubai. This is India’s first high-level bilateral talks with the government of Afghanistan after the Taliban returned to power in August 2021.
During this, talks were held between the two sides on a wide range of issues ranging from bilateral relations to regional development. In a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, it was said that during this time India’s security concerns in Afghanistan, the need to consider development projects between the two countries in the near future, help in the rehabilitation of Afghan refugees from Pakistan were discussed. But the two major issues that were discussed were the use of Iran’s Chabahar port and cricket between the two countries.
The ministry said in a statement that the Afghan government took note of India’s security concerns. India’s biggest concern has been that anti-India terrorist groups should not be allowed to flourish from Afghanistan’s soil. The Taliban stressed that Afghan soil will not be allowed to be used against India.
During this, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri emphasized on the historical friendship between the people of India and Afghanistan. Both sides evaluated the humanitarian aid program run by the Indian government. The Afghan minister also praised the Indian government for this.
