Anantapur. An Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (APRTC) bus and an auto collided near Thalagaspalle in Garldine mandal of Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. Farm laborers were travelling in the auto. Seven people died in the accident, while four were seriously injured. The injured have been admitted to Anantapur Government Hospital.
According to the information, about 12 farm laborers of Nelutla village of Kuttaluru mandal had gone to work in Garldine. They were travelling by auto on their return. During this, an APRTC bus coming from the opposite direction hit the auto. After the accident, two people died on the spot, while two people died while being taken to the hospital. Later, three more people died during treatment.
Police detained the bus driver
District SP Jagdish and DSP Venkateshwarulu inspected the spot. The police have taken the APRTC bus driver into custody and the incident is being investigated.
Five lakh compensation announced for the families of the deceased
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has expressed deep grief over the incident. He announced a compensation of Rs five lakh for the families of the deceased. The Chief Minister also directed the officials to ensure proper treatment for the injured.
