New Delhi. Allahabad High Court says that lovers who marry against the wishes of their parents cannot claim police protection. The court said that such people cannot claim police protection unless there is a real threat to their life and freedom.

Justice Saurabh Srivastava gave this decision while hearing a petition seeking protection on behalf of a lover couple. The High Court said that those who marry of their own free will do not have the right to police protection. Protection can be given only when there is any kind of threat to their life or freedom.

The court said that the court can provide security to any couple in a proper case, but if there is no threat to them, then they should learn to support each other and face the society. After examining the documents and statements, the court found that there was no serious threat to the couple and hence disposed of the petition.
