Now students who fail in the annual examination in class 5 and 8 will be declared failed. The failed students will get a chance to take the examination again within two months, but if they fail again, they will not be promoted.
The school will not expel any student till class 8th. On Monday, the Union Ministry of Education has changed a long-standing system by abolishing the ‘No Detention Policy’. After this decision, now the students who fail in the annual examinations of class 5 and 8 will be failed.
The government believes that the objective of this new policy is to improve the learning ability of students and improve academic performance. The ministry has decided to end the ‘no detention policy’ with the aim of improving the academic performance of students. This policy was in discussion for a long time, but now under the new system, students who fail in the annual examination in class 5 and 8 will be failed.
According to this new system, the failed students will get a chance to take the examination again within two months, but if the students fail again, they will not be promoted to the next class. However, the government has also clarified that no student will be expelled from school till class 8.
Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Education, said that this decision has been taken with the aim of improving the results of the children’s studies. He says that this step was considered necessary to prevent the decline in the learning ability of children. The ministry has particularly focused on classes 5 and 8, as these classes are considered important for basic education. Through this new policy, an attempt has been made to make both students and teachers more responsible towards studies.
