Shahdol: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav inaugurated Sarsi Island located at Bansagar Dam of Shahdol. He described it as a major achievement of tourism development of the state. He said that tourism of Madhya Pradesh is full of diversity and it attracts tourists from all over the world. Tourists will get an experience like Goa and Andaman-Nicobar by coming to Sarsi Island.
Sarsi Island has been developed at a cost of Rs 29 crore, due to which this tourist destination will showcase the beauty and prosperity of the state. Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla, Tourism and Religious Affairs Minister Dharmendra Bhav Singh Lodhi, MLA Sharad Kol and other dignitaries were present at the inauguration ceremony.
The Chief Minister announced that Sarsi Island will be connected to Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve and Sanjay National Park, so that it can be made a part of a comprehensive tourism circuit. Also, plans are being made to promote water tourism in the Bansagar Dam area.
The Chief Minister met Ms Manya Pandey, a young singer from the Vindhya region, and announced a prize of Rs 51,000 for her. On this occasion, tribal artists performed traditional dances. The Chief Minister encouraged the artists and accompanied them by playing cymbals and clapping. All folk artists were given prizes of Rs 5,000 each.

The island has been connected to Markandeya Ghat of Maihar and Itma Ghat of Umaria. Speed boats, jet skis, mini cruises and other facilities have been developed for water tourism.
The Chief Minister inspected the Boat Club of Sarsi Island and enjoyed boating. The winners of the boating competition organized on this occasion were also felicitated. The Chief Minister watched a short film on Sarsi Island and appreciated the efforts of the Tourism Development Corporation. He also released a brochure related to Sarsi Island.
During this, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh is moving on the path of development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the Jan Kalyan Parv, tourism, water resources, and infrastructure are being taken to new heights in the state. Projects like Sarsi Island will promote the economic and cultural prosperity of the state.
