Jeddah. The two-day mega auction of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is being held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. On the first day of the mega auction on November 24 (Sunday), money rained on domestic and foreign players. During this, 72 players were sold. At the same time, some players also faced disappointment. Now the auction will be held on the second day, November 25 (Monday), in which a maximum of 132 players will be sold. A total of Rs 173.55 crore is left in the purse of all 10 teams to buy them.
Wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant created history on the first day of the auction. Pant has now become the most expensive player in IPL history. Pant was bought by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for Rs 27 crore. Pant broke the record of Shreyas Iyer, who was bought by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for Rs 26.75 crore in the same auction. Now in IPL 2025, Shreyas Iyer is expected to captain Punjab Kings, while Rishabh Pant is likely to lead Lucknow Super Giants. Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal also dominated the auction, who was bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 18 crore. On the other hand, former Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul will now play for Delhi Capitals, on whom a bid of Rs 14 crore was made.
Let us tell you that this time Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Faf du Plessis were not retained by their teams. All of them captained their respective teams in the last season of IPL. But the big thing is that the old teams of these players could include them in their teams again by using the Right to Match (RTM) card.
