    India successfully tested long-range hypersonic missile, Defense Minister called it historic

    New Delhi: India successfully tested a long-range hypersonic missile on Sunday. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has described it as an important step towards military power. According to the information, this missile is designed to carry various payloads for a range of more than 1500 km.

    Rajnath Singh gave information
    Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said, ‘India has successfully flight tested a long-range hypersonic missile off the coast of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island, Odisha. This is a historic achievement and has put India in the group of select countries that have such important and advanced military technologies.’


    What DRDO said
    The Defense Research and Development Organization said that the missile was tracked by various range systems and the flight data confirmed that the terminal maneuvers and launch in the target area were successful with accuracy.

    The missile is indigenously developed
    This missile has been indigenously developed in collaboration with DRDO laboratories and industry partners at Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Missile Complex in Hyderabad. The Defense Minister, Defense Secretary and DRDO Chairman congratulated the team on the success of the test.

    What is a hypersonic missile
    According to the information, hypersonic missiles travel at more than five times the speed of sound in the upper atmosphere. In this way it goes at a speed of about 6,200 km per hour. It is slower than an intercontinental ballistic missile, however, the shape of the hypersonic glide vehicle allows it to move towards the target or away from the defense. Connecting the glide vehicle with a missile that can launch it partially into orbit.
