New Delhi: Elections are in Maharashtra but there is a stir in Delhi from the Mahayuti camp. Both Deputy CMs of Maharashtra – Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar are in Delhi and now CM Eknath Shinde is also coming to Delhi. All three leaders will meet Amit Shah today for final talks on seats.
CM Eknath Shinde will reach Delhi in the afternoon and after that the leaders of Mahayuti will meet Amit Shah. Actually, there are some seats in the state on which all three allies are claiming and the purpose of this meeting is to reach a consensus on these seats.
On many seats, the alliance parties are claiming among themselves
In Ashti assembly constituency, NCP Ajit Pawar faction MLA Balasaheb Asabe is the MLA, but BJP’s Suresh Dhas wants to contest the election there. Whereas in Tasgaon, BJP wants former MP Sanjay Kaka’s son to contest the election, but Ajit Pawar wants his party’s candidate to contest here. Rohit Patil of Sharad Pawar faction can contest the election here. All three parties are claiming that all these issues will be resolved in today’s meeting.
Candidates’ names not announced for 106 seats
BJP has announced the names of its 99 candidates for Maharashtra, while Shinde faction’s Shiv Sena has announced 45 and Ajit Pawar has announced the names of his 38 candidates. Overall, out of the 288 seats in the state, Mahayuti has announced candidates for 182 seats and the selection of candidates for 106 seats is still pending. There is a meeting in Delhi today regarding this.
There are 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra. There is a coalition government of BJP, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) and NCP (Ajit Pawar) in the state. In the 2019 elections, BJP had won the maximum 105 seats. At present, BJP has 103 MLAs. Shiv Sena (Shinde) has 40 MLAs and NCP (Ajit) has 43 MLAs. In such a situation, BJP is the largest party in the state.
Elections are on November 20
Voting will be held on November 20 for 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra. The results will be declared on November 23. In the last election, BJP got 105, Shiv Sena 56, NCP 54 and Congress got 44 seats. However, after the election, Shiv Sena broke away from NDA and formed the government with NCP-Congress. Shiv Sena’s Uddhav Thackeray became the Chief Minister.
In June 2022, there was an internal strife in Shiv Sena. After this, Eknath Shinde broke away from 40 MLAs of the party. Eknath Shinde became the Chief Minister with the support of BJP. Now Shiv Sena has split into two factions. Sharad Pawar’s NCP is also divided into two factions – Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar.
