New Delhi: India has summoned Canadian diplomat Stewart Wheeler after naming Indian High Commissioners and other diplomats as ‘person of interest’ and ‘suspect’ in connection with the investigation into the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada. He is the Deputy High Commissioner of Canada in India, who was summoned to give clarification after recent allegations of the Trudeau regime.

The Indian government has taken this action of Canada seriously and called it a negative step for bilateral relations. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has termed it a serious challenge to India’s sovereignty and constitutional values, seeking official clarification from Canada in this matter.

On Monday, Canada named Indian High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma as a ‘person of interest’ in the Nijjar murder case. India strongly protested against this and called the allegations ‘absurd’. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs accused Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of doing ‘vote bank politics’. India has also claimed that the Trudeau government has not taken adequate steps to deal with separatist elements on Canadian soil.

According to the statement of the Ministry of External Affairs, information received from Canada through diplomatic channels revealed that the Indian High Commissioner has been described as a ‘person of interest’ in the Nijjar murder case.” India rejected such allegations and said, “We consider this a part of the political agenda of the Trudeau government which is focused on vote bank politics.”

India issued a warning saying that Canada has not presented any evidence on the allegations. After Trudeau’s allegations, Canada was requested several times to present evidence on its allegations. India called Canada’s allegations baseless and a political ploy to affect diplomatic relations.
