30 Naxalites killed in Chhattisgarh, major operation by security personnel

Bastar: Security personnel killed 30 Naxalites during an encounter in Bastar, Chhattisgarh on Friday. A senior police officer said that the encounter took place in the forest between Thulthuli and Nendur villages of Abujhmad on the Narayanpur-Dantewada inter-district border at around 1 pm. District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Special Task Force (STF) personnel were involved in the operation.

The officer said that the bodies of 30 Naxalites and a cache of weapons including an AK-47 rifle and an SLR (self-loading rifle) have been recovered from the encounter site. So far this year, 171 Naxalites have been killed by security forces in different encounters in the Bastar region. This region includes seven districts including Dantewada and Narayanpur.


According to the news agency, officials said that there was information about the presence of Naxalites in the dense forest area. On this basis, the security personnel cordoned off the area and started combing. Then the Naxalites started firing. The security personnel also retaliated, in which 30 Naxalites were killed. Intermittent firing was going on in the area for 2 hours. At present, a search operation has been launched in the area, so that it can be ascertained whether their other companions have managed to escape.

Let us tell you that a few days ago, four Naxalites active for 15 years in Purvarti village of Chhattisgarh’s most wanted Naxalite commander Hidma in Sukma district had surrendered. For the first time, a Naxalite from this village surrendered before the police. All of them surrendered after being impressed by the surrender policy of the police. Hidma, the commander of Battalion One of the Naxalites, is Chhattisgarh’s most wanted Naxalite, on whom the Chhattisgarh government has placed a reward of more than one crore.
