‘Beautiful girls do not marry farmers’ sons’ MLA from Ajit Pawar’s faction made controversial remarks on women

Mumbai. An independent MLA, a supporter of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar, has made a controversial comment about the looks of women. After this, the MLA is being criticized in the political corridors of the state. Independent MLA from Varud-Morshi Devendra Bhuyar on Wednesday created a controversy by saying that a beautiful girl does not want to marry a farmer’s son and because of this the farmer’s son has to compromise with a substandard bride. MLA Bhuyar said that beautiful girls prefer to marry a person with a permanent job. He said these things in a public meeting, the video of which is going viral.

Bhuyar supports Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. He made this comment while talking about the problems of farmers. He was speaking at a program in his constituency Varud tehsil. Devendra Bhuyar said in the meeting that a beautiful girl would not marry a person “like you and me”. He claimed that she would choose a husband who has a job. He said that second-class girls marry someone who runs a grocery store or a paan shop. He said that third-class women marry farmers.

He said, “If a girl is beautiful, she will not (while choosing her husband) prefer a person like you and me, but she will choose a person who has a job.” He also said that children born from such marriages are not beautiful.

Now a round of allegations and counter-allegations is going on in the political corridors of Maharashtra regarding this statement of MLA Devendra Bhuyar. Uddhav Thackeray group leader Sushma Andhare has criticized it and said that Bhuyar’s statement is a mockery of the farmer’s children and an insult to women. Such phrases come from the arrogance that the rulers are sure that no matter what they do, they will not be punished. Andhare also asked whether your agenda is to make fun of farmers and women.

On the other hand, Congress leader and former Maharashtra Women and Child Development Minister Yashomati Thakur has also criticized Bhuyar for using derogatory language for women. She asked whether women are a means of consumption? Thakur, an MLA from the same district, said, “Ajit Pawar and those in power should keep their MLAs under control. No one will tolerate such classification of women. Society will teach you a lesson.” After this controversy, BJP leader Chandrakant Patil has said that he will ask Bhuyar to apologize to women. This controversy has arisen at a time when assembly elections are going to be held in the state.
