    Chennai Test: Team India defeated Bangladesh by 281 runs, Ravichandran Ashwin’s double blast

    Chennai: The first match of the 2-match Test series between India and Bangladesh was played at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai on Thursday (September 19). In this match, India defeated Bangladesh by 281 runs. In the match, India had given Bangladesh a target of 515 runs to win. Chasing the target, the entire Bangladesh team collapsed for 234 runs before lunch on the fourth day of the game (September 22). The hero of the Indian team’s victory was R. Ashwin, who took six wickets in the second innings. Ashwin also scored a century in this match.

    Let us tell you that after lunch on the third day, the Indian team declared its second innings at 287 for four. India had scored 376 runs in its first innings. In response, the Bangladeshi team was all out for 149 runs in its first innings. In this way, India got a lead of 227 runs in the first innings.

    Highlights of Bangladesh’s second innings
    Chasing the target, Bangladesh had a good start. Opener batsmen Shadman Islam and Zakir Hasan together made a partnership of 62 runs for the first wicket. Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah broke this partnership when he got Zakir caught by Yashasvi Jaiswal. Zakir scored 33 runs. Then off-spinner R. Ashwin gave Bangladesh the second blow by dismissing Shadman Islam. Shadman scored 35 runs before getting out.

    Ashwin then gave the third success to the Indian team by bowling out Mominul Haque. At the time of Mominul’s (13) dismissal, Bangladesh’s score was 124 runs for three wickets. Ashwin continued the process of taking wickets and he got Mushfiqur Rahim (13) caught by KL Rahul. Ashwin has dismissed Rahim for the fifth time in Test cricket. After Rahim’s dismissal, captain Nazmul Hussain Shanto completed his fifty.

    On the fourth day of the match, Nazmul and Shakib took the innings forward. In the first hour of the first session of the day, both the players batted well and did not allow India to take a wicket. However, the Indian team made a comeback in the second hour, when Shakib was caught out by Yashasvi Jaiswal off Ashwin. Shakib (25) and Nazmul shared a 48-run partnership for the fifth wicket.

    The Indian team soon got the sixth success, when Liton Das (1) was caught out by Rohit Sharma while trying to play a defensive shot. After this, Ashwin took his fifth wicket in this innings by dismissing Mehdi Hasan Miraz. At the same time, Nazmul Hussain was also caught by Jasprit Bumrah while trying to play a big shot on Jadeja’s ball. Nazmul scored 82 runs in 127 balls, which included 8 fours and three sixes.


    Shubman-Rishabh hit centuries in India’s second innings
    India got the first blow in the second innings in the third over itself, when captain Rohit Sharma was caught by Zakir Hasan off the ball of fast bowler Taskin Ahmed. Rohit scored 5 runs. After this, Yashasvi Jaiswal was caught by wicketkeeper Liton Das off the ball of fast bowler Nahid Rana.

    Then India also lost the wicket of Virat Kohli on a score of 67 runs. Kohli was out LBW off the ball of spin bowler Mehdi Hasan Miraz. Kohli scored 17 runs off 37 balls, which included two fours. After this, the pair of Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant settled at the crease. There was a partnership of 167 runs between the two for the fourth wicket.

    Rishabh Pant scored 109 runs off 128 balls, which included 13 fours and four sixes. This was the sixth century of his Test career. Shortly after Pant was out, Shubman Gill also completed his century. Shubman returned unbeaten after scoring 119 runs. Shubman hit 10 fours and four sixes in his innings. This was the fifth century of Shubman’s Test career. KL Rahul remained unbeaten on 22 runs.

    Bangladesh defeated by Bumrah in the first innings
    Bangladesh’s first innings was all out for just 149. Shakib Al Hasan (32) scored the most runs from their side. On the other hand, Jasprit Bumrah took the most 4 wickets from India. Apart from Bumrah, Akash Deep, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammad Siraj got 2-2 wickets each.

    India is invincible for 17 series
    India’s record on home ground has been excellent. Team India has shown a great game at home since 2012. Since then India has not lost a single Test series at home. That means India is undefeated in 17 consecutive home test series since November 2012. On the other hand, the Bangladeshi team has come to India after defeating Pakistan 2-0 in the series. Hence, their morale is high.
