Decision in money laundering case related to land for job deferred, decision to come on September 13

New Delhi: The decision of the Rouse Avenue Court on the summons of Lalu Yadav family and co-accused in the money laundering case related to the land for job scam will come on September 13. The decision on the issue of issuing summons to a total of 8 accused including former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, his son Tejashwi Yadav on the ED chargesheet in Rouse Avenue Court has been deferred for a week.

In this case, when the court asked to submit the death certificate of an accused Lallan Chaudhary regarding his death during this period, the ED submitted the postmortem report of the accused Lallan Chaudhary to the court. In this case, the ED had made a total of 11 accused. So far 3 accused have died during the hearing.

The Central Bureau of Investigation had filed the final chargesheet in the land for job scam case in the Railways on 7 June 2024. It includes the names of 78 accused including former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav. According to the CBI, this scam happened when RJD President Lalu Prasad Yadav was the Railway Minister in the UPA-1 government.

The final report filed in the court of CBI Special Judge Vishal Gogne in Rouse Avenue Court includes all those railway zones where Class IV level jobs were given in the railways in exchange for allegedly getting land papers made in the name of Lalu Prasad’s family members.

An official associated with the investigation of the case said that during the investigation, evidence was found that the accused conspired with railway officials and acquired land in their or their close relatives’ names and in return recruited people in railway departments. This land was acquired at a price lower than the then circle rate and also much lower than the market rate.
