New Delhi: Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has passed away. He breathed his last at the age of 92 in AIIMS Hospital, Delhi. His body was brought to his residence in Delhi at night. His last rites may be performed tomorrow at 11 am. He will be given a final farewell at the Congress headquarters. The Central government has announced seven days of national mourning on the death of the former PM. It is being told that one of his daughters is abroad. Dr. Manmohan Singh will be given a final farewell only after her arrival.
Bungalow No. 3, located at Motilal Nehru Road in Lutyens Delhi, was the residence of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for about 10 years. Singh died on Thursday. He was 92 years old. Singh moved into this huge Type-8 bungalow on a three-acre plot when Narendra Modi was sworn in as Prime Minister in May 2014. After becoming Prime Minister, Modi moved to 7 Race Course Road (now 7 Lok Kalyan Marg) and Singh to 3, Motilal Nehru Marg. Before Singh, this bungalow was the official residence of the then Chief Minister of Delhi Sheila Dixit. She vacated it after the Congress’s defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections. Dixit died in 2019 at the age of 81.
