111 medicines did not meet the quality standards, Health Ministry will initiate legal action

New Delhi. In the campaign to check the quality of medicines, 111 medicines were found to be non-compliant in November. In the investigation, two medicines were found to be fake, whose manufacturers are not known. Their samples were taken from Bihar and Ghaziabad. The Union Health Ministry is now initiating legal action in this matter. Instructions have been given to remove the medicines from the market.

The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization had taken samples from medicine shops across the country. Out of these, samples of 41 medicines were tested in the organization and central laboratories. 70 were tested in state laboratories. These include gas, fever, respiratory medicines. Official sources said, the two medicines whose samples were found to be fake in Bihar and Ghaziabad have been made in the name of a big company. In the case of fake medicines, there is a provision of punishment ranging from 10 years to life imprisonment.

PAN 40 and Augmentin 625 DUO found fake: A gas medicine called PAN-40 from Bihar has been found fake, whose batch number is 23443074. A sample of amoxicillin and potassium clavulanate tablet (Augmentin 625 DUO) from Ghaziabad has been found fake, whose batch number is 824D054.
