    The official said that a 45-year-old man, a resident of Santacruz West, Mumbai, lodged a complaint at the West Zone Cyber ​​Police Station on Thursday. The man, who works in the Churchgate branch of the insurance company, told the police that on February 23, while watching the reel on social media, he came across an advertisement. The official said that in the advertisement, a reward of Rs 4.53 lakh was promised to the person who brought a one rupee note. It also had a WhatsApp number.

    First deposited Rs 6,160
    The cashier sent a photo of a one rupee note on the WhatsApp number, after which a person named Pankaj Singh contacted him. Pankaj told that he works at a coin shop. The caller asked the person to fill a form and deposited Rs 6,160 for registration.


    The officer said that after some time he called the complainant again and said that the amount mentioned earlier was wrong and he would have to transfer Rs 6,107. The caller also promised that the amount transferred earlier would be returned. After this, Pankaj Singh connected the complainant to another person, who introduced himself as Arun Sharma.

    The accused sent RBI letter
    Arun sent a letter from RBI about winning a prize in exchange for a one rupee note to the victim and both of them engaged the cashier in talks. Rs 10.38 lakh was collected from the complainant on various pretexts. Officials said that the victim cashier realized that he had been cheated when the accused told him that if he paid Rs 6 lakh more, the reward amount could be Rs 25.56 lakh. After this, the victim contacted the police. The official said that a case has been registered under the IT Act and the Indian Justice Code and the investigation is underway.
